The massive spike on the 19th can be discounted. Infact, 2 days before and 2 days after, can all be regarded as false due to the hack. Normal daily hits on these 5 days were around 25-30.
Ended September with a total of 112 nations with people who have found my site... 1st day of October, 31 hits 2nd day , 28 hits and a new country hit. Madagascar who hit on my homepage via Facebook. No idea who and they obviously weren't that impressed as they didn't stick around. Oh well, can't please everyone. But hell, I hope October carries on the same way it started!
Was being very 'pro-active' on insta, racking up some hits. St Lucia too. 3rd day of October, 35. 100 a day seems a very long way off.
I re did my home page and quite a few people found my site thru organic searches and got clicking-fever. I got a massage from Canada. They loved my site for the great information, especially the Cairo to Cape Town visa page. A few people were having a good look, some clocking up 30 pages in one session. These are the people I gotta get to return. October 8, a massive jump to 48 unique visitors in one day. Awesome.
My last 2 weeks, I worked like a demon on getting whitemonkeytravels finished. All pages re formatted, and the same page layout across ALL pages, with links to related posts and re checking 'everything'. When I wasn't weeblying I was looking for a Swiss job. Over a hundred emails sent an not one positive reply. Things are getting close! I have just about enough money to get to UK but then what? The thought of returning without a ticket out fills me with dread!
After the blogs biggest day, came of course the slump. Just made 20. □.
I wrote a nice little piece about The Reality of Travel Blogging
and also counted my pages. 139 posts and 27 Index pages.
And then I thought about doing something I should have done ages ago. I can index the images on weebly as shown below:
But also I needed to rename the images. Pretty simple. Just download the image directly from the page, rename the image in GALLERY and re upload. This also resizes the images so they will load faster and when a 3rd party wants to steal my pics, the quality will be pretty crap. Haha!
Then I got some more hits. Tunisia, Peru, Bolivia, Iceland. The above modifications did absolutely nothing to make my pages rank higher.
Large swathes of Africa remain untouched but I guess they got better things to do than look at my blog.
A massive drop in hits. Barely making 20. □□. Started tweaking Africa on the presumption that the tourist season in Central Asia is coming to an end and people are in no need to be Googling border crossings and hiking routes here.
I discovered a little aspect of Weebly which I wish I had known 5 months ago. So I created a new post: How to set up a 301 Redirect on Weebly and thought it best to make a new index: Weebly Tips Index. Why? Because I am pretty good with this stuff. A few bloggers with Weebly have been asking me for advice, so why not!
For 4 days, hits were less than 20. Then suddenly after a day of ignoring the site, it was back up at 27 and a new country, Argentina.
West Africa and Central Asia Visa pages popped up on Google, 4th on page 1.
And why I was busy relocating to the West, Uruguay hit me up.
And then DISASTER. Someone hacked this blog! I wrote a full account here.
In the aftermath if the hack, I posted some pages on how to disable keyboard short cuts and right clicking on images, which can be found on my Weebly Tips Index.
Another new hit, this time Gambia! Ended October with 123 country hits, with 84 in October alone. The same as September.
